Getting to know Alyson

What was your welcome-to-college moment?  The very first day of school my freshman year when we also had our first team practice and met all the other swimmers. We focused on getting to know everybody and playing some fun games like ultimate Frisbee.

What’s the best part of your day?  Walking into our all-you-can-eat cafeteria and replacing all the energy I lost during practice, and catching up with all my teammates at the long tables we move together.

Can’t-miss class?  Environment Human Performance. We learn how environmental conditions can affect our athletic performances.

Must-see TV?  “Glee”

Dream concert?  Dayglow

Best Pizza?  Hawaiian

CDs or downloads?  A good mix of both

Reality or scripted TV?  Scripted TV

Books or e-reader?  Hardback all the way

Twitter or Facebook?  Facebook

Your most memorable sports moment?  Breaking the school and OAC record in the 400 free relay at OACs this year, successfully ending my swimming career.

Best opponent you’ve faced?  Ohio Northern University. Every year has been a healthy rivalry to be the best swimmers in the pool.

Winning three events and helping two relay teams to wins at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships was … An amazing struggle and accomplishment that made me proud to be a Raider swimmer and happy to end my career on the ultimate high note.

Where do you want to be at 30?  Working as a physical therapist, beginning a family and enjoying life.

Alyson’s credentials

Kolesar swept the distance events and swam on two winning relay teams at the Ohio Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. The senior from Stow rallied past three-time defending champion Michelle Eggers of Ohio Northern to win the 1,650-yard freestyle in a school-record 18:11.04. She won the 200 and 500 freestyles, helped Mount Union’s 800 free relay team set an OAC record and helped the Purple Raiders’ winning 200 free relay set a school record. Led by Kolesar, Mount Union finished second behind league champion Ohio Northern.
