Moore later was head coach at Ringgold (2004-05) for two seasons, compiling a 7-13 record. Prior to his first stint at Waynesburg, Moore was head coach at Clay-Battelle High School in Blacksville, W.Va.

Moore has recently held assistant coaching jobs, including last season at Canon-McMillan.

PT girls ousted

Audra Phipps scored all of her 10 points in the final quarter to help Oakland Catholic pull away to a 49-30 victory over Peters Township in a WPIAL Class AAAA playoff game at North Allegheny.

Bobbi Baker paced Oakland Catholic (22-1) with 15 points. Oakland Catholic led 23-13 at halftime and 33-24 after three quarters.

Merissa Morgan’s 11 points led the offense for Peters Township (12-12).

Waynesburg football schedule released

Waynesburg University will face two familiar non-conference opponents to open the 2012 season. Waynesburg will travel to New Concord, Ohio, to open the season against Muskingum Sept. 1. The last time these two teams met was in 2007, when Waynesburg won 28-10.

The next week, the Yellow Jackets host Frostburg State. It will be the 41st matchup between the schools and the rivalry dates to 1961.

The Yellow Jackets will play four of their first six Presidents’ Athletic Conference games ont he road, beginning Sept. 15 at Saint Vincent. Waynesburg also will play at Thiel, Bethany and Geneva.

Waynesburg will host PAC rivals Thomas More and Grove City and close the season with consecutive home games against conference rivals Westminster and Washington Jefferson. The Yellow Jackets have an off week before playing WJ.
